They are (for a short while) looking for unpublished writers to liven up their fall/winter lineup of new books. An author friend of our forwarded us the link; we sent in all six of our completed novels. Note: be sure to read the entire instructions as they are quite specific about how the manuscript should appear.
The great news is you can email your stuff to them, instead of having to pay postage. The email is way down at the bottom of the instructions page. Note: don't pester them about your manuscript. They don't like it. You'll get an email confirmation when you send in your attached manuscript. Note: send one at a time, with the title in the subject line.

This division of Macmillan was started about two and a half years ago. What I liked was that you can e-mail submissions - much cheaper and easier than the hard copy that many publishers want. I think it is great that they are giving new people at least a chance to have their manuscripts read. Notice that it is not unpublished authors specifically that they are looking for, it is a first novel they want. As long as an author has not previously published a novel, they are eligible whether they have other types of books already published or not. I wish you success with your submissions, Meredith, and I would encourage others to give it a try. Private Reply to Diane Stephenson | |
