Hi Meredith,
I agree. Interspersing the recipe with background information only adds to the flavor, I'm sure. For example, if there was a favorite cake or treat that you cherished as a child, how much more significance the recipe would gain if the back-story were explained along with the mere weights and measures!

Just my two cents. I really liked your post.
I'm new on this network and while I've a long way to go to be a writer, I'm hoping someone will guide my baby steps:-)
